Here are three of my poems about trauma recovery, written in 2022. I hope they inspire you to express yourself in some creative way. If you are a poet, write poems about your pain, recovery, and victory over trauma. You will find release, trust me. Write as if your heart depends on it.
“Poetry is often written during times when people are feeling intense emotions. In fact, the emotions often drive the poetry.” Louis Hoffman
Come
We are fragile ones
needing water,
needing food.
We are not camels
storing
what we need.
Take in today
what you need–
pure spiritual water.
Fill up
while you can,
when you can.
No pleasure
in a possession
brings joy,
brings life.
Come…
the love you need
is here.
Comfort Zone
Hazy skies hanging
over my consciousness
preventing me
from being
who I really am.
I wither,
afraid of leaving.
Smog covers my mind.
Blue skies
peeking through
remind me
the time of emigration
calls.
Presence
Longing
for fullness
of the emptiness
gone.
Reaching for food,
imagination,
or anything.
Only emptiness
remains.
Crying
for the Divine.
A presence comes
filling
the emptiness.
Something
left behind
leaves room
for more
longing
of Presence.

The Journey: Walking the Road to Jerusalem by Adam Hamilton: This book is about the birth of Jesus in a way you probably have never known. I highly recommend it. It is something I read every Christmas season.
