I think that you did the absolute right thing about your therapist especially when paying good money for it you deserve more than just a nod and a few ah has and I've always loved Melody Beatty.

That's exactly what my mom said. I deserve more. Melody Beattie is great. I want to read all of her books!!

I agree. There are also other therapists I liked but after awhile they said what I expected and I felt like added no value to me anymore. They were good while I needed them and we phased out of each other. And that’s ok. Time to move on.

I like the way you think. We get therapy when we need it. Some think therapy is for life. That doesn't make much sense to me. I need therapy right now, but I won't always.

Oh wow, I just posted about being willing to change therapists! How funny. And about being codependent. Saying no and asking for needs -- both are still very difficult for me. I'm less of a people pleaser than I was at least. The Disease to Please was a great book!

You might want to check out NARM trained therapists. I think it's the best trauma therapy out there, but I'm a bit prejudiced because it is working so well for me.

Looks like you have options in Fresno, lucky!

Sometimes I still have to practice saying no in the mirror. Being a people pleaser is so engrained.

I will check it out. Thanks for the tip!
